Housesitting Opportunities
(listings updated 18/8/10)

After a long stint on the road, the comforts of a house and a settled lifestyle can seem very appealing. One way to satisfy the urge to stop for awhile without hanging up your travelling boots altogether is to housesit. Housesitting can be a great way to recharge your batteries, get to know another part of the country, meet new people and then continue your journey afterwards.

Some housesitting engagements include the care of pets while others may involve collecting the post, keeping the garden tidy and ensuring the place seems 'lived in'. The following are a few opportunities available for reliable and trustworthy folk to move in while the owners take a trip themselves. We have also added new section for people keen to housesit to advertise their services. Note that although we try to keep our listings up to date, we cannot guarantee that these positions are still available.

Snowy Mountains region (posted 16/6/10)
I can offer a powered and watered place to park in return for some gardening or odd jobs. My sheep and cattle farm is 10km from Berridale giving easy access to the national parks, mountains and lakes (for fishing). While I love visitors at any time of year, I would really appreciate help in October leading up to a wedding and the annual open garden weekend. I don’t want to put any conditions on my visitors, but a love for cats is essential as they are very friendly and convinced of their own loveliness. Click here for a picture of my place. Interested? E-mail Gail: hillside1@skymesh.com.au or call (02) 6456 4006

Dec 2010 and all 2011 WA and NT (posted 1/3/10)

Our names are Roz and Steve Gugenberger, and we are fit and energetic non-smokers and animal lovers.  Steve is 51 and Roz is 50.  We are professional, dedicated, reliable and honest, and in the past we have lived and worked in Canberra, Hong Kong and London. We would like to be given the opportunity to look after your home while you are away.  We have our own transport, are independent and willing to travel to your destination.  Both of us are house proud and would enjoy looking after your home, garden and pool if you have one to a high standard. Steve is a great handyman and over the last five years has carried out a lot of work on the rental properties we have managed.  As he likes to keep busy, he is only too happy to take
care of any little jobs around the house that you may have been putting off. So if you will be looking for clean, honest and reliable house and pet sitters with excellent references who will take care of your home and pets the way you do yourselves then please contact us either by email at roz.steveg@gmail.com or on 0412 695 419 or 0417 628 150, and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
