Housesitting Opportunities
(listings updated 24/1/12)

After a long stint on the road, the comforts of a house and a settled lifestyle can seem very appealing. One way to satisfy the urge to stop for awhile without hanging up your travelling boots altogether is to housesit. Housesitting can be a great way to recharge your batteries, get to know another part of the country, meet new people and then continue your journey afterwards.

Some housesitting engagements include the care of pets while others may involve collecting the post, keeping the garden tidy and ensuring the place seems 'lived in'. The following are a few opportunities available for reliable and trustworthy folk to move in while the owners take a trip themselves. We have also added new section for people keen to housesit to advertise their services. Note that although we try to keep our listings up to date, we cannot guarantee that these positions are still available.

Housesitters available, Perth region (posted 24/1/12)
We left Townsville just over 5 years ago & have done several house sits during that time. We are currently in Perth & would consider any house sit within a 200k radius or so. We prefer rural sits but will consider city as we prefer to actually live in our van only using the bathroom & laundry. Our van is only 18ft long so it's not usually a problem to put in a yard. I have several phone contacts for references & also written ones I can provide for the people to check us out. Please email Ailsa on colailsa@hotmail.com for more information.

House sitters available Queensland coastal between Tweed Heads and Port Douglas from mid August 2012, will consider from 1 week to 3 months (updated 14/1/12)
We are Robert and Victoria, a married, healthy, fit, retired couple, home owners and long term residents in the Adelaide area (Glenelg).
Robert - retired Army Warrant Officer, Bank Auditor and Primary School Bicycle Educator, and Victoria - semi-retired current Civil Marriage Celebrant, non smokers, pet lovers, and keen gardeners.
We are willing to housesit in various areas/states while you have a holiday with the peace of mind that your property and pets will be well cared for to a high standard.
With several sits now, ranging from suburban house blocks to large semi-rural 38 acres in SA and QLD, we now consider ourselves quite experienced.
We have had pets ourselves but current plans preclude responsible ownership at this stage, so would like to spoil your’s for a while. We get along well with rural/semi-rural pets (horses etc) and capable of caring for them.
We generally travel with our mid-sized caravan and may need space to be able to park the caravan (mid sized 6 metre/ 18 foot body) on your property or driveway while house sitting, however if such space is not available we could probably make alternate storage arrangements.
Direct e-mail is bob_mills25@hotmail.com , on-the-road phone (08) 7200 0501 with voicemail finds us where ever we may be, mobile 0427 554 560
Our photo album on the web will show us and some of our activities and pets we have cared for.
