caravan rego cuts in NSW
NSW is to slash the cost of caravan rego.

In a massive boost for New South Wales-based grey nomads, the state government is to slash the cost of registering private caravans and campervans by 40%.

In a media release, Treasurer Dominic Perrottet and Roads Minister Melinda Pavey said the price cut which will be included in the upcoming state budget will come into effect from November 1.

“The change will apply to towed caravans and purpose-built camper trailers weighing up to 4.5 tonnes, putting a saving of up to $471 back into the pockets of hard working families across the state,” Ms Pavey said.

Under the change, standard registration fees will still be required, including the annual fee of $65.

  1. Well done NSW. About time it was closer to other States but just hope there is no catch.

Bring on National road rules and rego.

    • I agree. Hope Qld slashes Regis but won’t hold my breath

  2. there would be a catch, like fuel going up.

  3. We only live 20kms from Vic border.Registration there is 63 dollars. No wonder so many caravans here have ” victorian addresses”.Bring on the change.Little sceptical though.Had to check it wasnt early April.

Huh, $63 to register a Caravan!!!…where is that? My van just cost $202 to register in Queensland, and the same van would cost me $270 to register in NSW from what I can find out…is that right?
…depending on Tare weight the rego in NSW varies hugely from what I can see…but I’d doubt its cheaper to register a caravan of any weight in NSW…but I hope I stand to be corrected. If you’ve got a big van you’ll pay nearly $900 in NSW….so its little wonder they are reducing the cost in NSW…but Id doubt it would be cheaper than Qld.

      • opps, sorry I misread your comment…yeh so…I will correct myself…$63 to register a caravan in Victoria..wow!!!!…I guess its no wonder, as its a relatively small state with huge numbers of caravans…but jeepers…$63 bucks to register a caravan, that almost enough to make some grey nomads move to Victoria. 🙂

  4. Just when im about to sell my van , to little to late.

  5. Canberras Barr promised he would bring the act rego into line and make it the same as NSW is he now going to follow or is canberra still going to rip of caravan owners and be the most expensive place in Australia to register their van.
