Where to go

The longest journey starts with the first step - or the first hitching up of the van - but where do you go after that? It's not always easy because there's an awful lot of wonderful country to see. Happily, many of you have got a lot of time to have a look around so don't rush...you might not be able to see everything but you can make sure you enjoy every place you do visit.

The climate in Australia is perfect for camping and with a bit of planning and luck you can follow the sun all year around. We have recently added a story on Climate to help you plan which way to go and when.

In addition to choosing a route, grey nomads must also determine what type of camping experience they want to have. From resort-style caravan parks to national parks and from state forests to bush camps, a wide variety of camping options is available for an equally wide range of fees.
