We will be going away again in October and are hoping to find a suitable couple, preferably with a fully self-contained caravan or motorhome, to look after our place for two weeks. We have 55 acres, which looks out over picturesque farming land, trees and mountains. It is very peaceful with only the occasional car or truck noise in the distance. We have many birds who live near the house, wallabies who graze close by and wild ducks who come up for a feed and a swim in the pond.
We have to insist that no pets are to be brought onto our property (caged birds excepted).
Duties will consist of checking on a small ferd of cattle (all very quiet and friendly) and 2 alpacas; feeding chooks and collecting eggs, if any, letting out our three ducks, feeding them at night when you put them away and changing their drinking water. Our vegetable gardens may need regular watering by then. Help yourself to the produce. We’d also appreciate our mail being collected from the letterbox and the rubbish bins to be put out if need-be.
It’s all very easy work and needs only an hour or two a day. So long as our animals and gardens are well cared for and everything is safe we’ll be happy.
There is a nice, private place to park where you will get plenty of sun for charging your solar panels, and shade in the afternoon. It also has a terrific view.
You’ll have access to drinking water, but you won’t be able to connect to it directly as you won’t be parked close enough to a tap so you’ll need containers to fill your tanks (also, we are on tank water but it’s filtered). There is non-potable rainwater close enough to connect to for washing (if you have a filter you can drink that too). You can also have access to electricity and a toilet if required.
We are only ten minutes from the closest town which has a Coles, and a larger town with all its services is within an easy half hour drive. Beaches are about 40 minutes away and the mountains, with waterfalls, picnic areas and scenic drives, a similar distance.
On our little farm there are photo opportunities as we have an abundance of birdlife and beautiful scenery at different times of the day and in all weather, gardens, bushwalking tracks, a pretty creek, dams, and just peace and quiet. Most of the time it will be a holiday for you as well as for us.
