Onsite Manager for a Tourist Destination; Mount Adrah, NSW

Hillview Farmstay (www.hillviewfarmstay.com.au) is looking for an Onsite Manager to run and manager the day-to-day operations of the property. This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) ideal for a couple who can share the responsibilities based on their strengths (so this means 20 hours per week per person).

 
Job responsibilities include:
1. Conduct animal activities with guests. There are 3 in total that happens daily: (a) AM animal feeding; PM animal feeding; Buggy ride
2. Manage housekeeping including Quality Assurance
3. Laundry – most of the linen goes to town but some require washing
4. Look after guest requests
5. Water supply management
6. Ordering and shopping for supplies required
7. Collection of guest payment if required
8. Animal care – basic care only, the owner is the mainly responsible for the answers
9. Handyman (ie change lights etc)
10. May be required for after-hours support if required (on exception)
11. Housekeeping if short on staff (on occasion)
12. Grounds maintenance although we have a gardening that comes to the property 1 day per week
 
Mandatory requirements:
1. At least 5 years Hospitality experience at a supervisory level
2. Proven record for excellent customer service. Customer always comes first
3. Happy disposition, willing to learn and enthusiastic
4. Ideally from farming background or with farming experience but this is not required as long as you are comfortable with animal interaction and handling and Has basic knowledge of animal handling
5. Willing to live in property (accommodation to be provided)
6. Willing to work 5 days per week over the weekend, school holidays and public holiday. Workdays will be Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues with Tues as shopping day. Day off will be Wed and Thursday
7. Ideally, a good cook who can make hearty meals for guests as required (but not essential)

5. Free onsite accommodation (1-bedroom flat adjacent to the shearing shed with its own private backyard)

7. We will support you in getting all certification ie RSA, Food supervisor certificate, etc
8. Training will be provided in all areas to make sure you are in the road to success
 
Our key considerations are as following:
1. We need someone who is hardworking and honest and will be passionate about place
2. We are looking for longevity. We don’t want to keep on changing staff every 1 year. We are looking for someone to be able to stay for long term. I do note that there will be an observation/probation period of 3 months where both parties can decide this is not a fit for them therefore can leave within sufficient notice.
3. We are looking to grow the business and we are looking for onsite managers that will help us grow the business and will grow with us on the journey
4. We need someone who is willing to work weekends, public holidays, school holidays, and Christmas break because this is our peak time. We will be with you working as well during this period but due to how busy it can become, we need all the hands on deck. We are happy for you to take time off but let us know in advance and ideally during low season.
5. We are looking for someone who understands that Hospitality has its high and low season. During high season, you may have to work more hours but during low season, there may not be any work. So we need someone who understands Time in Lieu concept.
6. We need someone who can do the work physically. Living in a farm is a very physical work just because of the size of things. So housekeeping and garden maintenance can be physically demanding. So being fit helps.
7. We need someone who is good with people. This job interacts with different kinds of guests so it’s important to always smile and be professional and give the guests what they ask for.
8. We need someone who can take directions from my husband /me and at the same time be proactive and quick thinkers as required.
9. We are looking for someone who respects our philosophy, vision and faith. Our aim for Hillview is to make it a safe place where family and friends can get-together and relax and make memories together.
