Billed as the most unique Outback racing experience in NSW, the Broken Hill St Patrick’s Race Club began in 1965 as an initiative to boost local racing and help the finances of the local Catholic schools. These days, crowds of more than 4,000 typically flock to Broken Hill to see the eight-race program, with $100,000-plus in prize money up for grabs. The race day is the feature in a week-long calendar of events ranging from fashion parades to greyhound racing.
