Five injured in campervan rollover on Stuart Highway

Five people have been injured after a campervan rolled over in the far north of South Australia.

An ambulance spokesperson said six people were travelling in the campervan when the accident happened on the Stuart Highway at Arcoona, near Woomera. The driver escaped without injury.

Four of the injured are in serious condition and are expected to be taken to the Woomera Hospital, and then on to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. One man has an abdominal injury, another a spinal injury, while one female has a shoulder injury, and another arm and leg injuries.

The fifth injured person, a man, has an ankle injury and will be treated at Woomera Hospital.

The patients are being retrieved by MedSTAR and Royal Flying Doctor Service teams flying in two fixed wing RFDS planes.

The Stuart Highway was closed while emergency services cleared the scene.
