A massive police and emergency service search is underway for a 65-year-old woman who went missing on a bushwalk in a national park on the New South Wales south coast.
The search is focusing on dense bushland near Moruya, about 175 kilometres from Canberra, where Alyce Tidball was last seen on Saturday afternoon.
The American tourist, who has been in Australia for about a month, initially phoned friends to say that she had become lost while walking alone. She has not been seen since, and her phone battery has run out.
Officers from Far South Coast, with assistance from SES and Westpac Helicopter, commenced a wide-scale land and air search in the vicinity of the Deua National Park yesterday morning.
Police say Ms Tidball is of Caucasian appearance, about 178cm tall, of solid build, with short blonde hair. She was last seen wearing Capri-style pants and a light coloured top as she left for a bushwalk in the Deua River Valley.
