Caravan park theft problems in Hervey Bay

Grey nomads and other travellers are being warned to be more security aware following a string of thefts in caravan parks.

In the Hervey Bay area alone, there have been fives separate incidents in the past week. Police say the thefts have all been at different caravan parks, mostly those along the Esplanade, and a wide variety of items have been stolen.

“We have had a range of things stolen, everything from food items through to wallets and mobile phones, generally because they are sitting out in view,” Hervey Bay police Acting Senior Sergeant, Hayley Skyring, told the Fraser Coast Chronicle. “The things they can do is keep their valuables secure and out of sight, that’s the main thing and making sure they keep their cars and caravans locked even if they are inside.”
