Search continues for another lost bushwalker

Published: August 6, 2012

A massive land and air search is underway after another bushwalker has gone missing in one of our national parks. The 46-year-old man went missing on Saturday at Mount Dalrymple, in Eungella National Park, northwest of Mackay.

He had reportedly been part of a bushwalking group but lost contact with fellow walkers at some stage of the hike. Yesterday, a search involving police, State Emergency Service volunteers and members of the public failed to locate the missing man. A police helicopter with infrared capabilities was used last night but was similarly unsuccessful. The search has now resumed in earnest.

Last week, a 74-year-old woman and the 76-year-old spent the night out in the elements at Western Australia’s Karijini National Park after becoming separated from their bushwalking group near Circular Pool. They were found after a huge search. The man was found first and then, several hours afterwards, searchers found the woman with cuts and bruises and slightly dehydrated but otherwise in good spirits.
