Camping craze to grip the nation over Easter

Published: April 4, 2012

It’s on again. The seasonal scramble to get an affordable, bearable camping spot over the Easter holidays is upon us. It’s the time of the year when the holidaying hordes join us for a fleeting taste of the good life and we briefly share the magic of the lifestyle with the ‘masses’.

Seasoned campers will have had their Easter ‘getaway’ spot planned out well in advance … and it’s a very smart move.

Whether you are bush camping, national park camping, or staying at a van park, you can be sure that you won’t be alone. Economic tough times or no economic tough times, this holiday season looks set to be as busy as ever.

According to the Tweed Daily News for example, all parks on that part of the NSW coast are already full days before the Easter break starts. A Tweed Shire Council spokesman said the parks were full and forward bookings were strong.

“There are only a few sites still available for the week after Easter while NSW students were still on holidays,” the spokesman said. “We could have sold multiple sites if we’d have had them available.” It’s a story that will be replicated all over the country at this time of the year.
