Victoria is the latest state to start relaxing its coronavirus restrictions around caravanning and camping.
From June 1, caravan parks in the state will be able to conditionally re-open to visitors.
Premier Daniel Andrews said it was a major step forward.
“Overnight stays can resume at private residences … and importantly, for our tourism industry, so can overnight stays in accommodation,” he said. “In good news for those itching to pitch their tent, this will also apply to campgrounds and caravan parks – but not with communal facilities like kitchens or bathrooms so we can stay safe.”
The Victorian Caravan Parks Association, VicParks, welcomed the news that travellers would now be able to book self-contained accommodation in regulated caravan parks.
“VicParks has worked hard to ensure a safe re-opening of caravan parks to support members and the Victorian community who are desperate to enjoy time away,” the organisation said. “Our member parks will be given strict requirements to follow from June 1, including the requirement that they apply stringent social distancing, surface cleanliness and personal hygiene processes to protect themselves, their staff and guests from the chance of infection.”
The group said it will continue to work with government the safe re-opening of communal facilities as soon as possible.

Guess it’s time to purchase one of those camping porta potties and a big box of baby wipes instead of showering!
My caravan doesn’t have a bathroom or shower…
I wonder when community facilities will open back up and if caravan parks with en-suite sites will still be an option
