Brrrr! Southern state grey nomads who have missed out in their normal trips north this year have had a sudden and brutal reminder on what they’ve been missing out on … heat!
While many caravanners and motorhomers have been happily exploring closer to their home bases, most have also realised that things are generally more fun in the sun.
A strong cold front has hit a lot of the south with snow falls and ice closing roads in the New South Wales’ Central West and Southern Highlands. The wintry blast has also hit Victoria over the weekend, with overnight temperatures falling to 2C in Ballarat and 3.8C at Melbourne airport.
People in the Central West of New South Wales said the snow had been falling ‘a lot heavier and thicker than usual’.
Don Stafford from Yetholme Crest, west of Lithgow, told the ABC he had received ‘about three inches’.
“It’s very cold,” he said. “You don’t want to spend much time out there.”
However, some people were excited to see the white stuff.
Alicia Hewitt, from the Millthorpe Corner Store, told the ABC the snow had brought a lot of people in.
“Mainly visitors I think, a lot of locals have chosen to stay in bed in the warmth, but visitors come out to see the snow.”
We’re near Ballarat, had 50mm rain Friday/Saturday stayed indoors.
Mostly while its winter time, so the temp is low….there has been very little wind so its not to bad. Put a coat and beanie on and go for a walk.
Its a driving wind that is unpleasent.
I don’t mind the winter….lots of good casseroles.
All our fruit trees are about to burst their buds so spring is almost here
