Caravan bursts into flames on Queensland motorway

Published: March 8, 2021

A caravan has reportedly burst into flames on the Ipswich Motorway south of Brisbane.

After being gutted by fire, the charred frame of the caravan was visible to motorists driving eastbound this morning.

The Courier-Mail reports that two fire crews battled to bring the blaze under control.

“There was a large amount of smoke,” said a Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesperson.

The incident, which happened near the Logan Motorway drive off ramp in Gailes, caused traffic to back up on the motorway.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said all eastbound lanes were briefly closed, bringing motorway traffic to a standstill. The lanes have since reopened.

It is not believed there were any injuries in the incident although few details are available at this stage.

Police and the Transport and Main Roads officers attended the scene and will investigate the incident.

Another potential cause maybe the electrical wiring done by some auto electricians when wiring up plugs etc use substandard wires for the size of the van and power drawn. Of course theres no wire left after the fire to prove it. Fire investigator gave this explanation to friends who lost their vehicle and new van 6 mths ago.

who is to say it was a auto elec did some wiring surprisingly there are a number of caravan owners and even truck drivers do their own wiring to save money nothing to worry about only 12volt or 24volt maybe it was seized wheel bearing only the experts will know
