Revamped campground opens at WA’s Lane Poole

Published: July 12, 2013

The West Australian government has just opened a $2.1 million camping ground at Lane Poole Reserve near Dwellingup.

The new Baden Powell campground offers 42 campsites, two larger group camping areas and it can accommodate about 180 campers. It has three camp kitchens, eight toilets, picnic tables, pathways and a car park.

The revamped site, which now has specific sites for caravans or camper trailers, is said to be a result of the WA government’s commitment to provide low-cost camping and caravanning sites across the state.

A further $1 million will be spent on other upgrades at Lane Poole Reserve, including the Baden Powell day-use area.

“This development adds to Lane Poole Reserve’s existing 160 campsites, which are consistently booked out on long weekends and during peak holiday periods,’’ Environment Minister Albert Jacob, told the Mandurah Coastal Times

He that the campground was an example of the type of low-cost, high quality accommodation sites to be built in the south and mid-west of WA under the Parks for People initiative.

Work has also begun on the $2 million redevelopment of Nanga Mill campground at Lane Poole, which will provide an additional 29 campsites specifically for caravans.

Can’t wait for for the pending fees to be implemented..Govt do not give anything away for free

Fees are cool provided you get good value for money. Parks for People is a commendable initiative and it’s encouraging to see governments with that kind of attitude. Camping with 200 others is not my idea of “getting away from it all” but I’m sure many people will be pleased with the upgrades.
