Victorian national parks to be given funding boost

Published: May 6, 2014

Victoria’s national parks are set to get a major facelift thanks to a $13.35 million state government investment.

The cash will be used to upgrade facilities such as walking tracks, boardwalks, roads, bridges, signage, picnic tables and public toilets at Wilsons Promontory, the Otways and the Dandenongs.

“Of the $13.35 million in funding, $3 million will help ensure visitor sites and environmental works at the Grampians are restored to their former glory after the recent devastating bushfires,” said Premier Denis Napthine. “The bushfire burnt several significant tourist sites that are important to the local economy and this funding will help draw tourists back to the Grampians National Park and surrounding areas.”

The Victorian Government says it committed to building a better state by enabling regional economies to unlock tourism opportunities.
