Good news for all grey nomads worried that, after another few years of travelling around Australia, they will have seen all there is to see … exciting new frontiers are about to open up!
According to a group of futurologists and industry experts, space travel and underwater travel will both be the ‘in’ things within a decade.
While even the most affluent of grey nomads may baulk at an anticipated $75,000 entry fee fare for the shortest of space odysseys, journeys to the bottom of the sea – and the lake – may prove more tempting.

‘Future of Travel 2024’ report which says underwater tourism is on the way up. It seems then that, in a few years, grey nomads could be setting of in caravans, motorhomes … and submarines!
“I suspect that mass underwater exploration and tourism will develop with greater pace than mass space tourism,” said Skyscanner CEO, Gareth Williams. “And I suspect you would get more from it, because there is more to see down there than in space.”
Polish company Deep Water Technology has already designed a futuristic-looking luxury hotel made up of spaceship-like discs, built partially underwater to offer guests views of their marine surroundings. Hotels based on these designs are already planned to be built in Dubai and the Maldives.
The Skyscanner report says the same underwater concept could soon be applied to spas, gardens and pools.
