After almost six months with us, our current Grey Nomad couple have decided to move on and continue their adventures — and while we’re sad to see them go, their time here has created a wonderful opportunity for someone else to make Appledore their next home base.
We’re looking for a motivated individual or couple to join the team for a minimum of three months and become a genuine part of life on the property.
The Role
You’ll be involved in all aspects of day-to-day operations, including stock work and mustering, fencing and yard maintenance, general property upkeep, and machinery and vehicle operation. No two days are quite the same, and if you like variety and a hands-on environment, you’ll fit right in.
Trade or technical experience in building, electrical, mechanical, or engineering is a bonus — but not essential. What matters most is a willing attitude and the ability to turn your hand to whatever the day throws at you.
Hours & Flexibility
Work hours are flexible and arranged to suit both parties. Some weekend work may be required, particularly around livestock activities.
What We Offer
A powered caravan/van site on the property with access to amenities. Remuneration is by negotiation — we’re open to a paid arrangement, a work-for-accommodation exchange, or a combination, depending on what suits you best.
Well-behaved pets are very welcome.
About Appledore
Appledore Pastoral Company is a working cattle and sheep property situated 6km north of Barraba in the New England region of New South Wales. We take pride in how we manage our land and our livestock, and we’re looking for someone who shares that same respect for the bush and the animals in our care. Barraba is a friendly country town with all the essentials — and the surrounding country is genuinely beautiful.
