Ready, steady, stampede! Vanning super sale is back!

Published: February 5, 2020

A caravanning goods ‘super special sale’ that has previously proved so popular it has sparked near stampedes is back!

Starting this Saturday, February 8, Aldi stores around the country will be offering outdoor items at knockdown prices.

In years gone by, the sale has seen customers queuing for hours prior to the stores opening their doors, and also seen some products sold out within minutes.

One of the most popular items this time around is sure to be a caravan cover which is selling for $99.99, and which has been compared to the quality of covers which sell for upwards of $300.

On the Aldi forum, Aldi Lovers Australia, one person complained of being surrounded by “absolute vultures” during the 2018 sale, as camping gear was rapidly snapped up.

Others commenting on the Aldi Australia Facebook page suggested those who want one line up “at midnight to have any chance of getting a caravan cover”.

The caravan covers come in four sizes, 14-16ft, 16-18ft, 18-20ft or 20-22ft, have weighted buckles, three-zipper side panels and are UV stabilised. They also have reinforced corners and double-stitched seams.

Aldi is also selling a caravan side wall for $29.99, a pair of roofracks for $79.99, and a Pantera gas barbecue for $269. If you’re looking for something smaller, the supermarket giant is selling collapsible kettles for $29.99 and shatterproof drinkware for $9.99.

  • Would you queue for a couple of hours and be ready to ‘get your elbows out’ in order to save $200 on a caravan cover? Have you been to one of these sales in the past? Comment below.

Yes, I was at a sale for dishwashers, had 2 men fighting over one. Fortunately they had plenty out the back.

We bought the caravan cover last year, no queues, we just arrived at opening time. Guess it depends on where you live because the following week there were still some left.
