Another caravan park gets ‘super-size me’ treatment

Published: February 24, 2015

The rise of the monster motorhome and super-sized caravan is continuing to slowly change the face of Australian caravan parks.

The Coolum Beach Holiday Park on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast has now completed its $570,000 ‘super-size me’ upgrade. Some of the money has been spent converting 70 small sites with an average size of 64sq m into to 46 larger sites averaging 100sq m each.

“These important works have taken the park to a new level,” Division 9 councillor, Stephen Robinson, told the Coolum News. “This enables the park to better cater for today’s larger campervans and motorhomes in all weather conditions.”

The council-run park now has 218 powered tourist caravan and camping sites and six villas.

Other improvements carried out include the installation of power, water and sullage points for grey water, drainage improvements and construction and sealing of the park’s internal roads.

The upgrade follows the recent replacement and refurbishment of the three amenity buildings and a new camp kitchen.

“We’re already situated in one of the most beautiful locations anywhere in Australia, and we now offer the best possible caravan and camping facilities for our guests,” park manager, Greg Howard, told the Coolum News.

This is a win win situation for caravaners. What a luxury! 100sq metres. Wow, must google the park and check out the fees. Bet they match the 100sq. metres. No seriously, this is great for the travellers who love to stay in caravan parks and they could do a lot worse than Coolum
