It’s official! The outback Queensland town of Barcaldine has set a new world record for the longest line of motorhomes
On May 26, 868 motorhomes, caravans, campervans and fifth wheelers created a 9.5-kilometre line outside the town.
Now, that effort has been verified as a Guinness World Record, surpasing the previous record of 672 set by a club in Italy in 2003.
Australian Motorhoming Lions Club president, Len Waddington, told the ABC that it was a great achievement for the town and those who took part.
“All those that participated now can get a certificate from Guinness,” he said. “It’s the achievement and the satisfaction that we got out of it … it’s a good-memory thing.”
Money raised from the record-breaking efforts will go to Angel Flight charity.
Yes, we certainly did. We were up that way for work. Saw it on Facebook, and, thought, why not.. Very glad we were able to contribute to something amazing and more importantly, the funds raised by this, will give those towns a very big boost. Not too bad all us travelling RV’s. Well done and congratulations to all who stuck it out, as we know, some dropped out.
Proud to have been a part of record and to be a Lion
Yes we did also. We had the Boat A Home. Had a great time ,sat on top of the boat above the flies watching everybody drive past. Everyone had a fire going during the night. Don’t forget we also broke the longest line of rope lights as well.
I was told other wise Russell, would be nice to confirm tho.
Absolutely Marvellous
Let’s see a truck pass this lot. Well done to every one that participated.
