A caravan has been completely destroyed by fire on the Midland Highway at Bagshot near Bendigo in Victoria.

The Bendigo Advertiser reports that a Toyota four-wheel-drive was towing the caravan south when a motorist behind noticed smoke coming from the caravan.

The driver of the four-wheel-drive pulled over and detached the caravan.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze. The incident temporarily blocked the Midland Highway at Bagshot.

No one was injured in the incident.

  1. Problem with these caravan fires is we never get any feedback on the cause. There are many who tow with their gas fridge and gas turned on.
    Downright dangerous.

    • I always tow with my fridge on gas and I’ve not had a problem as yet.

      • Very dangerous to tow with gas on mate. Re think this practice.

  2. I wouldn’t have thought a gas fridge would run whilst travelling along. I don’t have one but I know my mate has to have his van near perfectly level before his fridge will run on gas. Could’ve easily been electrical.
