Queensland to open border to NSW (except for Sydney)

Published: October 30, 2020

Queensland will open its border to most of New South Wales from next Tuesday. However, those who live in Greater Sydney will still not be be able to cross into the Sunshine State.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said that she relied on the advice of the Chief Health Officer, who is concerned about community transmission of the virus in southern states.

“I have always said that I will follow the health advice and this is Dr Young’s advice,” she said. “Keeping Queensland safe is also keeping our economy open and I will not risk the safety of Queenslanders.”

She said that people who have been in a hotspot in the past 14 days will not be allowed to enter Queensland.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said the recent cases in NSW led to her decision to close Queensland to Greater Sydney.

“I have reviewed the situation in NSW and, prior to yesterday, they had four LGAs in Sydney that had had cases of community transmission that NSW was unable to link to any known clusters, which means that they have transmission and they don’t know where it is coming from,” she said.

The ABC reports that WA Premier, Mark McGowan, is to meet with the state disaster council to discuss Western Australia’s hard border.

J Young would not know if her backside was on fire, what a disgraceful woman she is, it is all about money nothing else, no longer for the safety of Qld’s.
