A 75-year-old woman from Victoria has gone missing while on a bushwalk in the remote northwest of Western Australia.
A huge search is underway for the missing tourist who went for a bush walk on Tuesday morning about 27 kilometres west of the Northern Territory border but never returned to her travelling group.
Police said she was walking near the Pangkupirri Rockholes when she went missing.
“It is believed the woman was carrying a small amount of food and water, and concerns are held for her safety and welfare,” a police spokesman said. “Local rangers and local community members are assisting with the search.
A search plane using a heat sensing camera was also deployed to the area overnight, but failed to locate the woman. A helicopter from Yulara is being deployed to assist with the land search.
