Cows crossing the Bruce Highway may have been a factor in a crash involving a campervan, a tourist bus and at least one other car.
One person was taken to the Gympie Hospital with leg injuries after the accident which happened between the dual-lane highway and Kybong’s Puma Service Station.
Members of the public helped at the scene, while passengers from the bus and vehicles waited for emergency services. The accident forced the closure of the highway for about 10 minutes.

cattle are not wildlife, the owners of cattle wandering the highways should be made responsible for damage,injuries etc just the same as any other animal owners they are not poor old farmers, if they cant afford to secure their animals they should’nt be in the game.
Well when u are driving in the country you have expect cattle and sheep will get out of paddocks at times so be alert and drive carefully . Sometimes the farmers have to move their stock from paddock to paddock it’s a way of life in the country . I don’t mind sitting and waiting for stock to pass and if only a couple I drive slowly and the get out of the way
Drive slowly and expect the unexpected it’s the country after all stock will wonder
Let’s not play the blame the ” poor old farmer ” card without knowing the circumstances as some roads actually go theough farming land and some times there are other reasons that cows get out or they may have been legally greasing the roadside reserves there may have been sighs on the road that were compleatly ignored have personally seen this happen
