A car towing a caravan has been involved in a high-speed police chase through the Adelaide Hills.
A man and woman were arrested after the pursuit, and a caravan and car that police allege were stolen were both recovered.
Social media reports suggest the rig was stolen from a pair of grey nomads or soon-to-be grey nomads.
Apparently, the drama began when an off-duty policeman saw a maroon Commodore sedan and white caravan, which he thought to be stolen in the town of Kersbrook outside Adelaide.
Patrols converged on the area, and the car and caravan were pursued through several hills suburbs. Police terminated the pursuit, and a short time later the car was spotted minus the caravan headed towards Mylor.
Police laid spikes and the vehicle was stopped. The caravan was later found abandoned.
A 31-year-old man and 24-year-old woman, both from Kadina have been charged with theft, engaging in a police pursuit and numerous other traffic matters.
They will appear in court shortly.

Just makes you think, about pulled up for the next cuppa out along some highway.I guess this kind of thing is bond to start happening in these desperate times .
Not as bad as indirect relatives. They were in suburban Melbourne, had the caravan backed up daughter’s driveway, 4×4 unhitched and parked in spare garage. Sleeping through the windy and noisy night, wife thought the van was moving. Probably the wind. Settled back down. Then the van gave a lurch. She woke hubby. He looked out and yes, they were moving, straight down the driveway. Thieves had hooked up and were stealing the van… with them inside! Hubby – a pretty solid sort of lad – soon got that sorted. Thieves unhitched and drove off but hubby had rego. Coppers got ’em soon after!
It costs a grand a week to put people in jail, and guess who pays for that? Back in the good old days, offenders served their time with hard labor, building roads, etc. Now of course the unions reckon that takes the work away from ordinary people. Ya can’t win.
Congratulations to the Police concerned. Nobody likes to have this sort of thing happen but if it ever happened to me, I would hope that the Police would be on the ball, and as efficient as the Police in this case seem to have been.
Well we have Pirates of the sea, so I am guessing that we can expect to see Pirates of the outback in years to came. Like the old saying goes.
