A caravanner in his 70s has been involved in a bizarre accident at a van park in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
The man was allegedly attempting to hitch his caravan when he made a series of mistakes that saw him reverse his LandCruiser into a van park unit before driving into the side of his own caravan
The man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
“He’s reversed back and hit the caravan,” said Pilbara Sergeant Colin Guy. Then as he accelerated the car did a full circle and rammed into the left side of his van where the door is.”
Sgt Guy said the man then “panicked and put the car in reverse” which meant it “smashed into a donga”.
The damage could be worth up to $70,000.
No one was injured in the incident. The man was taken to be hospital to be checked out, and is due to appear in court in December.
