Caravanner more than seven times ‘over the limit’

Published: January 13, 2014

A woman towing a caravan on a Queensland highway has been found to be more than seven times the legal alcohol limit.

Police stopped the woman on the Bruce Highway near Proserpine last week after they became concerned about the behaviour of a motorist observed slumped in a vehicle towing a caravan.

Her breath specimen of 0.367% is one of the highest readings recorded in the Sunshine state, and is enough to render some people unconscious.

The woman was described as being heavily intoxicated, and Mackay’s Daily Mercury newspaper reports that she admitted to having driven from Townsville earlier that day.

The woman was arrested, charged with drink-driving and driving an unregistered vehicle, and later released on bail.

When we were in Queensland we were overtaken by a bloke towing a 20 ft or so van and then repeated the process with the four cars in front of us. The trouble was he was still on the wrong side of the road as he entered a bridge. Everyone started started taking major stopping actions including the traffic on the bridge and this guy just kept going. Everyone just sat there thankful that no-one got hurt but could have been a disaster.

Saw a B-double do the same thing in Qld last year, how he missed a oncoming car is beyond me.

Did you get his number, as this must been very close to you. If not why not. Did you report him to the police?? Take these idiots details and report them, I do and I get results from the police. I also have a car camera. If you don’;t report don’t complain

Trouble is regarding this women she had no licence to start with to take off her, so doubt this will take her off the road, due to being released after being charged.

Yesterday Sunday I was travelling south from Cairns toward Bruce Highway, torrential rain and a male driver in a wine bag cut from the middle lane to the left hand lane I was travelling in …just put on indicator and cut straight across..I had to do some really quick defensive driving to avoid what could have been a disaster…..I always check my mirrors when I have my caravan towing but apparently Mr Freestyle. Name on van doesn’t …
