Looking for a reliable caretaker (single or couple, pets welcome) for our 12-acre property in Silver Sands, on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The property is the largest private holding within Aldinga Conservation Park — a treasured bird sanctuary and native bushland reserve — and sits just 500 metres from the beach.
Accommodation is provided: a generously converted extra-large bus, more cosy tiny-home than cramped caravan. It has raised metre-high ceilings, a full shower and bath, kitchen with oven and stove, and an outdoor toilet. Rent and water are free; you cover electricity, gas bottles, and toilet servicing. Visitors are fine.
The work runs to about 10 hours a week, varying with the seasons (lighter in summer, more active in cooler months). Tasks include garden and grounds maintenance, mowing and slashing (ride-on, tractor, push mower, whipper snipper), vineyard and orchard assistance, irrigation repairs, basic handyman jobs, and minor carpentry. You’re welcome to hold other employment alongside this role.
Also on the property: a commercial on-site gym, fresh eggs, bushwalking from the door, vineyard and orchard access, and great bird and animal watching.
We’re after someone reliable, practical, comfortable working independently, and respectful of the environment. Minimum one-year commitment (ongoing preferred), with a 30-day mutual trial to make sure it’s the right fit.
