Farm/House sitter/s needed for approximately 2 weeks – 20/10/2026-03/11/2026.
October 20 – Farm orientation, o/night with dinner. We leave October 21 morning and return November 3. Flexible if want to arrive earlier and leave later.
Own caravan/motor home, rural, stock, quad and tractor experience preferred. Free access to water, electricity, Wi-Fi, bathroom and laundry in house.
Overview: ‘Naours’ is c.460ha. & c.4.5kms to Somerton village, 40 minutes to Tamworth or Gunnedah, 25 minutes to Manilla. Self-replacing beef cattle herd of Santa Gertrudis & Angus cows (c.100) will have calves at foot. 15 Suffolk sheep. Rental cottage tenanted. 20% leased to cousins for cropping, may be harvesting.
Monitoring water and feed essential and possibly supplement feeding depending on the season at that time. May need to move cattle to next paddock.
House: c. 97yo has personality & history; a living museum, largish garden, basic vegetable patch, pot plants indoor & out will need monitoring. If you like reading you will never be short of something to read (retired librarian).
Feathered & furry family members: 1 indoor cat,1 indoor galah in cage on an enclosed verandah,1 blind & loving Border Collie-Kelpie cross female, 1 friendly Maremma female, 6 interesting chooks a couple lay, 2 goats to keep the grass down in the sheepyard, cage in house yard – 2 galahs, 2 rainbow lorikeets and sometimes a sparrow or two, and free ranging Guinea fowl [2] and numerous peafowl.
