Volunteers are always welcome at Nungarin Heritage, Machinery and Army Museum. Our Museum showcases the little known presence of the Australian Army in the WA Wheatbelt from 1942 through to the closure of the 5BOD in 1962.
We are situated in the Wheatbelt of WA, with lovely salt lakes, salmon gums and natural rock formations. Our tiny town is friendly and welcoming, with a store and pub.
In collaboration with our local Shire council we are able to offer you a free caravan spot at our quiet van park.
We welcome people to our Visiting Volunteers program, for a week or more, with the hope that you can bring your manpower and varied skills to help us. With petrol costs starting to bite, why not pause for a while in this lovely area and take the time to breathe in the serenity of the bush?
We ask volunteers to provide about 15-20 hours per week, with jobs ranging from helping out with Sunday breakfasts, to showing visitors around, or any area of interest to you. Recent volunteers have made us an introductory video, catalogued our radio collection, and created a bike trail through the remains of the 5BOD campsites – we’re open to your ideas!
Please email an expression of interest and include your phone number so we can call and have a chat. We are a welcoming bunch!
