A maintenance worker reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a parked car which had been hit by a car towing a caravan at Mooloolaba on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a dual cab vehicle towing a caravan was driving north on busy Brisbane Road at the start of the long weekend when it struck a parked car, which propelled the vehicle into a male maintenance worker.

The man in his 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital. A Sunshine Coast Health spokeswoman said he was later moved to a different facility.

The Sunshine Coast News reports that two other pedestrians, both men, were also taken to hospital in stable conditions.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman told the Courier Mail newspaper that it was understood the male driver of the dual cab suffered a medical episode, and he and his female passenger were taken to hospital in stable conditions.

Multiple emergency crews attend the scene.

A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokeswoman told the Courier Mail they were notified of the incident at Mooloolaba and were making enquiries.

“WHSQ is not able to provide further comment at this time,” the spokeswoman said.
