A teenager who was allegedly trespassing at a caravan park in South Australia discovered he had bitten off more than he could chew after he was apprehended by a vigilant police dog.
Park security called police to the site on Military Road in Adelaide’s western suburbs in the early hours of last Tuesday morning after an unknown man was spotted riding a scooter around the caravans.
Police say patrols attended with Police Dog Hank to search the area. A person was seen hiding under a caravan and tried to run off, but PD Hank and his handler gave chase, with the dog quickly apprehending the suspect.
A 19-year-old Aberfoyle Park man was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises and possessing drug equipment. He was also wanted for numerous outstanding theft matters.
He was initially refused police bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court.

We are always vigilant of public access around LGA owned parks which rarely, if at all, provide some form of active security monitoring. If there is any public walk-way adjacent to the park, we don’t stay!
Come try any of the three council Caravan Pks in Hervey Bay on the Esplanade and thats with Security Guards on patrol, three yrs ago Pialba was being hit every night.
Since you ask… we were caught by surprise even though we were warned that Carnarvon WA is a hot bed for thieves who are purely opportunistic.
We always lock the caravan door, however it seems we missed the ritual on this occasion in a Carnarvon Caravan Park.
Three of us were broken into and a ute was stolen. Not one of us heard a thing!! Fortunately they didn’t take our vehicle as the fridge in the ute was plugged into the van. They did, however, enter the van, take the keys as well as a wallet and handbag. Wallet and handbag were returned in tact ♀️
Police advised we secure the vehicle as it was possible that they would return. They sure did and this time they disconnected the power cord from the van but couldn’t open the hatch on the ute canopy, not mention the steering wheel lock and a wheel lock on the ute had them stumped. Again, we heard nothing. Fortunately they had overlooked a spare set of ute keys that were in my handbag.
