Man hospitalised after crocodile attack at popular Kimberley camping spot

Published: April 22, 2026

There has been a crocodile attack in a camping spot in WA’s Kimberley region.

The ABC reports that the incident happened on a beach past the Coulomb Point Nature Reserve, adjacent to Hidden Creek, about 50 kilometres north of Broome.

The WA Country Health Service told the ABC the man was admitted to Broome Hospital and was in a stable condition when he was transferred to Perth.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service told the broadcaster that the man, in his 20s, was flown from Broome to the Royal Perth Hospital.

The unsealed Manari Road on the Dampier Peninsula is popular with travellers due its kilometres of pristine beach.

A Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) spokesperson told the ABC that it was notified of the incident on Monday and had “spoken with a relative of the man who was attacked”.

“DBCA will also undertake a site visit as part of the investigation,” they said.
