Travellers attempting to use Cahill’s Crossing in Kakadu National Park faced an unexpected delay when a massive crocodile had the same idea.
The giant reptile delay certainly had right of way as it slowly waddled across the road and eventually disappeared back into the East Alligator River.
A number of vehicles were held up by up to 10 miunutes and tourists even got out of their vehicles to capture the incident on film.
In a video uploaded to YouTube by Eric Grimes, the croc can be seen heaving its way across the road, blocking a white four wheel drive.
Another witness, Candace Fitzgerald, told the Daily Mail Australia she and her friends first noticed the crocodile’s head appear from the rocks.
‘We could not believe our eyes,” she told the paper. “I thought he would keep going to the other side, however the crocodile’s journey came to a standstill forcing me to move forward and beep the horn to move him along.”
Ms Fitzgerald said it was lucky they were in the car during low tide.
“If it was high tide I would be concerned but there was hardly any water on the crossing, so it was fine,” she said.
