Cruel thieves steal dreams of UK motorhome owner

Published: September 10, 2014

Anyone who has ever poured their heart and soul into a project will appreciate the anguish of a British grey nomad who has had his much-loved motorhome stolen.

Anthony Burrows, 57, from the northern English town of Stockport woke to discover his £20,000 Peugeot Executive has been snatched from his driveway.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Mr Burrows had bought the mobile home 18 months ago following a four-year search for the ‘perfect’ model for his retirement. He then spent 12 months restoring it, spending almost every day working on it.

Anthony and his 82-year-old father, Roy, used the vehicle to take holidays to the seaside.

“We’re absolutely stunned, it made a big difference to my life,” said Roy. “I can’t go out now, the bottom has fallen out of our world.”

Anthony was equally angry.

“After a year I’d got it to the stage it was perfect and I thought it would last me a lifetime,” he said.  “The people who took it are scum, they don’t care about any of that time and effort or have feelings.”

The Englishman now trawling dealerships in a bid to find his beloved motorhome.
