Are Fraser Island dingoes being deliberately killed?

Published: June 22, 2016

The six dingoes found dead on Queensland’s Fraser Island were probably deliberately targeted and killed … and a major investigation is now underway.

The carcasses were found around Orchid Beach over the past four days, with one body found in a shallow grave.

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) said deliberate baiting was a high possibility and the dingoes would be inspected to confirm the cause of death.

“Dingoes are as much a part of Fraser Island as the world-renowned sand dunes and crystal clear blue lakes,” said Environment Minister, Dr Steven Miles.  “Dingoes are protected in Queensland’s protected areas under state law and deliberate harming will not be tolerated.”

Killing a dingo on a protected area carries a maximum penalty of $353,400 or two years’ jail, but it is being reported that other penalties could potentially apply in this case.

Police and the national parks and environment departments are investigating.

To find a dingo in a shallow grave shows a deliberate act of animal cruelty was inflicted on the Dingo’s on Fraser Island. Having been to Fraser Island once, I found the dingo’s very social but also to be wary of. This is why people go there for the experience, to see nature. Should be 2 years jail for each Dingo plus pain and suffering. Then destroying wildlife in a National Park.

Yes they are I had a friend who was a ranger there , and another who’s job it was to monitor the Dingos and the person in charge has a huge passion to kill them all ( makes us so angry ) even the so called friend loved killing them , they want to get rid of them all … which we cant believe how callas these so called humans can be , this has been going on for years and they will keep killing them until all gone .
