A grey nomad was forced to watch his motorhome go up in flames after a dinner stop near Toowoomba ended in disaster.
The Toowoomba Chronicle reports that a man – who is believed to be from Geelong – pulled up at the Mt Kynock lookout on the New England Highway to cook a meal. After he had finished, a fire broke out and quickly ripped through his vehicle. Investigators are yet to definitively determine the cause of the fire but an overheated gas cooker is believed to be to blame.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the scene of the blaze on Wednesday evening. They managed to bring the blaze under control within 20 minutes but the man’s rig was totally destroyed.

Fire crews also had to extinguish a small grass fire that also broke out near the van at the lookout. * Comment below.
