A dog that jumped out the open window of a moving motorhome and onto a busy highway has survived.
Canadian couple Rob and Villoy Dorrington were on their way to the Brannen Lake campground along the busy Nanaimo Parkway in British Columbia when they saw their beloved pooch ‘Shayda’ fly from the vehicle.
Incredibly, the dog was picked up by other motorists who had seen what happened and was returned to the Dorringtons relatively unscathed. The Nanaimo Daily News reports that Shayda’s only complication from the unexpected fall was the loss of her voice for about 18 hours. “We thought she was a goner for sure,” Villoy Dorrington told the newspaper. “By the time we got the unit stopped, we figured she would have been hit, with all the traffic.”
She called it a “miracle” that the dog survived, thanks to the intervention of the good Samaritan motorists. “There was so much traffic on the highway and we pulled over on the side of the highway, expecting the worst,” Mrs Dorrington said. “We couldn’t believe it when a young girl brought Shayda to us and she didn’t have a scratch on her. We’re calling her our miracle dog. Everything happened so quickly and we were so relieved that she was okay.”
