The scourge of people dumping their rubbish near national parks, stunning beaches, and once pristine creeks continues to blight our national ‘beauty’ spots.
The tales of dumped carpets, fridges, building waste, and car parts come from all corners of the country where commonsense and common decency are abandoned, presumably in a quest to save a few dollars.
The latest community to be left reeling from the disrespect that tippers have for their natural surroundings is the Coogee, south of Perth.
Locals have been stunned to find the Woodman Point Regional Park – which features a traditional beach coastline, with a popular recreation area complete with parklands, playgrounds, and jetties – has become a convenient dumping ground for some.
A few weeks after volunteers spent an entire day cleaning up the popular nature spot, clearing 20,000 pieces of rubbish, the dumpers have returned.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife has just been forced to remove the large pile of litter, which included a couch, desk, car bumper and outdoor table, which had been illegally dumped on the side of a road.
City of Cockburn community development manager Gail Bowman told WA Today that illegal dumping was an ongoing concern for the area – despite the council offering free trip runs to residents.
“The city owns a landfill which offers all our domestic properties six trailer passes annually,” she said.

Unfortunately not an isolated incident. On a recent trip we found a full size washing machine dumped in a campsite just south of Norseman WA and later in a site just outside of Kojonup, we found several dozen empty spirit bottles. Not nomads here, I believe the local young ones had a party and walked away from their litter. Expensive spirits I might say.
We stayed overnight at a Main Roads rest area near Pemberton, WA, about 5 years ago. Wouldn’t be surprised if it now closed as they had a large skip bin for travellers to use, and signs asking locals not to dump household waste as they would close it down if this continued. We saw 2 locals dump large amounts of household waste, and left a mattress as well
The Council is partly to blame , to go to the tip should be free that’s why we pay rates.
I’m with you Ray, the council fees for dumping here in Busselton are fairly steep after our two free 6×4 trailer loads.

From the description of the rubbish, I don`t think it would have dumped by people in RV people,.
The same thing happened in the Toowoomba area when the council put fees on rubbish dumps.
IN THE CITY OF FREMANTLE IS JUST AS BAD. I AM ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED BY THE STATE OF THE RUBISH THAT IS DUMPED. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE THESE DAYS.
It not hard, just put in cameras to crash the offenders
