A 4WD towing a large caravan has been involved in a collision with another vehicle on the Bruce Highway near Coochin Creek at Glass House Mountains on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The van rolled on to its side following the crash which happened a couple of days ago. There were only minor injuries, with paramedics reportedly treating four people at the scene of the crash.
The incident did cause major traffic problems in both directions. The caravan was removed from the scene by the team at Claytons Towing.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
Just confirms we need a licence to tow caravans!!!!!!
Bill Donovan please not there was more than 1 vehicle involved and they are still investigating the cause of the accident. Please don’t automatically blame the driver towing the van
If the caravan driver was at fault. The article states there was another vehicle involved. Probably be a good idea to have all the facts before making rash statements…..
maybe as with motorbikes begin with smaller size for at least 12monrhs for experience
Typical knee jerk reaction bill Donovan
If having a licence to tow caravans will stop accidents ? why doesn’t having a car licence stop car accidents ??
I have to agree with you Bill. Even not knowing the details of this particular incident, I think it is high time that mandatory towing courses be implemented to tow caravans etc. It is indeed warranted due to the number of incidents we see just about on a weekly basis.
Bill, do you know the details of the accident?, the driver of the 4X4 towing the van may not have been the one who caused the accident and may have had a HR licence or higher.
Drivers of heavy trucks have a licence to drive them, but it will not stop them from having an accident.
I suggest you know the facts before you make a comment.
good comment Phillip N, to many people jump to conclusions based on assumptions.
Oh, joy,
Oh, joy,
Oh, joy.
Here we go again.
THE BLAME GAME.
WHO’S TO BLAME.
What verses What???
Stupidly??
A special license???
Government intervention???
As has been stated, IT’S STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.
But this will draw condemnation from far and wide. Including those of limited intelligence.
So, how about we ALL get back into our Mickey Mouse rocking chairs and wait for the verdict.
And , by definition, will not be published on any public or social media, except to those involved.
Viewed a web cam posted to FB of the accident area, the road surface was in very poor condition.
Like a majority of our country roads and highways …. I am convinced that councils and governments select the lowest quote rather than the best quality ..
Yes to make accusations like that Bill you would want to be sure of your facts. I have had many a time when I could have gone over getting out of the way of some dickhead, and like Phil said I have spent many a mile at the wheel of a B double or semi. Stevo
I agree Paul. Like you I have spent many years behind the wheel of trucks. People should not automatically blame the person towing the caravan when more than one vehicle is involved.
What is it with the Bruce Highway? So many accidents involving caravans.
So many accidents involving caravans on this highway.
So glad no one was hurt ..
Can someone tell me why so many roll overs on the Bruce highway ….very scared for the occupants…drive safely people .
It was not a roll over. The article states that the van rolled over on its side following the crash.
Question is why so many caravan accidents on the Bruce Highway?
What is the comparison to other vehicle accidents on the Bruce Highway?
What comparison to other roads regarding caravan usage and accidents?
Been around a couple of times and Bruce Highway worst we have been. QLD roads in general are shockers.
How many caravans are on the road compared to the number of accidents involving caravans? The result would be a lot lower than the number of cars etc. Many caravans are being towed by very experienced drivers who have had less accidents than some of these people that are jumping to conclusions when there is an accident involving a caravan.
