It seems that the demand from grey nomads to have a base in a so-called RV village is continuing to grow.
The communities typically offer low-maintenance, secure, affordable homes with plenty of space to park the rig, and a convivial atmosphere.
The RV Homebase in Maryborough, Queensland, has just begun work on an 86-lot expansion, which will bring the total number of sites at the village to 274. A new social gathering hut and walking tracks will also be built.
Maryborough Chamber of Commerce president Lance Stone described the news as “a real shot in the arm for our local economy”.
“These units are designed to meet the needs of a growing sector of our nation which is people with RV’s and money to spend,” he told the Fraser Coast Chronicle. “The uptake has justified the commitment to the region.”
Project manager Sam Williams said there were eight standard-design homes on offer at RV Homebase, and prices would remain about $380,000 on average
“We’ve got people living in the village from all over Australia,” he told the Chronicle. “We focus solely on the RV lifestyle and that’s what sets us apart.”
Most RV Homebase residents are active travellers and, at any one time, about 40-50% of the villagers are ‘on tour’.
It’s a good idea. But I want to live closer to the grandkids in Canberra and live in a RV Homebase. Are there any plans for homebases in other states and areas?
