The Aurora Australis southern lights have been putting on quite an eye-catching display for those grey nomads still in the southern states over the plast few nights.
The phenomenon, which happens when solar flares and energy particles collide in the earth’s magnetic field, has resulted in amazing red, pink and green lights being visible in the skies over parts of Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia. Some incredible photos of the spectacular light show have been circulating on social media
And the Bureau of Meteorology says there may be more still to come. It says with another Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) expected to hit Earth today, auroras might be visible from the southern states again. So, get those cameras ready!
