When Happy Hour in a van park is just way too happy

Published: February 1, 2017

Most long-term grey nomads would have encountered – on the odd occasion – some thoughtless or anti-sociable behaviour from their fellow campers. But the shenanigans at the Ravenswood Caravan Park in Western Australia over Christmas must have been on another level altogether.

The caravan park’s freehold property owners, the Marlin Group, has announced it is banning touring travellers completely … saying that their rowdy and disorderly behaviour over the festive period caused serious disruption to regular tenants.

The group’s general manager, Ben Rasheed, told the Mandurah Mail that the closure affected the portion of the camp reserved for temporary campers coming with tents or small touring caravans only. The park’s full-time residents and long-term holiday renters would not be affected.

The Marlin Group is currently negotiating with the Shire of Murray to formalise a long-term lease for a portion of land which the caravan park had been informally using for vehicle storage, overflow parking and limited camping for several years.

Mr Rasheed told the Mandurah Mail that, when the lease is approved, the group will incorporate better facilities to the caravan park, which would allow for better management of the temporary campsite.

He said Ravenswood caravan park would resume taking temporary campers on once the facilities are upgraded.

Is it a Caravan Park OR a retirement Village?????
In the Festive season I would call it 50/50 Fair go in the sprit of Christmas. Call it quits at 12.05am to be considerate to all.
After all no one in retirement needs to rise to early.
PS: the CVP’s charge visitors x $$$ at this time. Full timers???? ————– Steady as she go’s.

used to be one of our favourite parks but since the hotel took over the management several years ago it has gone downhill. Needs an on-site manager to supervise and certainly needs up-graded facilities

As grey nomads we try to avoid caravan parks with large permanent populations. The residents can be off putting.
Also, whilst we may not like it, we can understand holiday makers desire to let their hair down. We have done the same only a few years ago.
