A caravan has burst into flames on the side of a busy Western Australian road leaving it total gutted.
The cause of the blaze, which was captured on film by passing motorists, is still unknown. No one is believed to have been injured in the terrifying incident.
Firefighters battled to control the inferno for more than half an hour, but could not prevent the $65,000 van from going up in smoke.
Local media report that the driver had managed to pull the vehicle onto the hard shoulder – and away from other vehicles – before it erupted into a ball of fire. The incident happened late on Monday afternoon at Marmion Ave near the Eglinton turn off, approximately 30 kilometres north of Perth.
Mobile phone video taken of the vehicle shows it consumed in flames on the side of the road before later exploding. A second video shows dark grey smoke billowing from the gutted caravan.
