Jobs, stories, quizzes and letters … GNT 70 is here!

Published: April 26, 2014

In Issue 70 of the Grey Nomad Times, we ask the question ‘when is an RV not an RV?’ and find some councils think the answer is ‘when it’s a caravan’.

We also hear from competition-winning vanners who have been converted to the motorhoming lifestyle. We stroll along the gorgeous boardwalk at Urunga, find video evidence of how wonderful the Big Lap is, and Jaclyn tells an obsessive bargain hunter that the price isn’t right.

We also list a stack of new grey nomad ‘jobs’, ‘items for sale’, and ‘housesits’ in our burgeoning Classifieds section. And there’s another thought-provoking mountain of readers’ letters, a challenging nomad quiz, a truly tricky picture puzzle, and much more besides. Enjoy!

What a crock! A caravan is a recreational vehicle … ask any government department. Our rego classifies it RV..our insurance ..RV. Why should some backwoods council deem otherwise? It really annoys me that motorhomes get preferential treatment over a caravan who has the same facilities on board. As for being / looking untidy.. have a look at MH towing their cars and trailers behind. Not only untidy but over size..beedibg 3 times the space. Finally..caravans have the use of parks? Is he saying MH cant use their parks now?

I notice some of your “jobs” advertised are in fact volunteer positions. Why is it that older people, like grey nomads are expected to work for nothing.

Latest edition has comments about Windfarms. Well The UK has some Draconian laws.My sister bought a property in the uk backing onto paddocks. Found out there was going to be a Windfarm feet from their house. She did some research and found out that if you own the land or have a contract with the owner you can build a Windfarm on your land
.NO Planning Permission required. Normally your Solicitor does searches to find out if there are plans that affect your property.eg Shopping Mall, Motorway etc.Not for Windfarms. We are luck her in Oz so far no such laws.
