Visiting Australia’s national parks is one of the great joys of travelling the country … but they are wild and sometimes dangerous places.
The drowning death last week of an American tourist at Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory just underlines the point.
The ABC reports that the 65-year-old man went missing from his tour bus group on Friday morning, and his body was later found at Motor Car Falls in a remote southern part of the park.
Police say it appears the man got into difficulty and drowned. He was unable to be revived by emergency crews.
An investigation will be conducted and a report prepared for the coroner.
