A caravanner in his 60s has suffered chest injuries and lacerations after an accident on Queensland’s Wide Bay Highway.
The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew attended the scene at Kimbombi, near Gympie, over the weekend.
LifeFlight says the man was driving a four-wheel drive, which was towing a caravan, when he apparently lost control.
The 4WD veered off the road into a ditch and hit a tree. The 4WD and caravan both landed on their sides.
The LifeFlight crew was able to land the helicopter in a paddock, close to the incident.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Queensland Fire Department (QFD) personnel were on the scene, when the aeromedical team arrived.
The LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic worked alongside local paramedics to treat the man for chest injuries and lacerations.
The man was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
A woman was also injured in the crash. She was transported to a nearby hospital by Queensland Ambulance.
