Do you feel guilty about spending the kids’ inheritance?

Grey nomads are often ‘accused’ of merrily spending their way through the kids’ inheritance … and most aren’t about to apologise for it, either.

In our recent Grey Nomads poll on the issue, some 58% of respondents said they did not feel any guilt as they splashed out on caravans, motorhomes, and just the living-the-dream lifestyle.

“Our three know darned well that we poured a lot of energy, love and labour into giving them the best possible start in life,” said Cynthia K. “And they are all grateful and appreciative, and could not be happier that we are now doing something just for us.”

Jerry M agreed. “We’ve done our bit for the kids,” he said.

“And now it’s our turn, and they completely get that.”

However, Oliver J admitted to feeling a little more ‘pressured’. “It’s just so tough for younger people these days,” he said. “Of course, we want to help out the kids and the grandkids when we can and, if that means modifying our travels a little bit, then we are more than happy to do that.”
