The recent spate of caravan thefts around the country has caused enormous heartache to inconvenienced owners and led many grey nomads to have a closer look at security arrangements for their own rigs.
Stories of stolen vans rarely have happy endings, particularly once the weeks and months start to roll by. However, the mysterious case of the missing 2009 Paramount Tribute caravan is one of the few exceptions.
The van, which was stolen from a premises in Lonsdale, South Australia, nearly exactly one year ago, has just been found in the backyard of a home in an Adelaide suburb.
“The owner of the caravan has been notified that the caravan has been recovered undamaged and is delighted,” a police spokeswoman said.
The Herald Sun reports that police found the stolen van, which is worth $70,000, when they visited a Woodville Gardens property.
A 52-year-old man was reported for unlawful possession of the caravan and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
